Potli Productions developed Maati Ru Akaasa, an impact book for the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), through a deeply participatory documentation process that engaged students, educators, institutional leaders, and community voices to capture the institution’s transformative work in tribal education and sustainable development.
The book documents KISS’s pioneering model of providing free, holistic education to tribal students while advancing social inclusion, cultural preservation, and multiple Sustainable Development Goals. As one of the world’s largest fully free residential educational institutions for indigenous children, KISS has created pathways for thousands of first-generation learners to access quality education and build empowered futures.
Developed through conversations, workshops, reflections, and collaborative storytelling exercises, Maati Ru Akaasa was shaped by the voices and lived experiences of those within the KISS ecosystem. The participatory process ensured that the publication moved beyond institutional reporting to become an authentic reflection of journeys, aspirations, and impact on the ground.
The book brings together stories of student transformation, educational innovation, community empowerment, and KISS’s contribution to advancing goals related to quality education, gender equity, reduced inequalities, and sustainable development.
