Jamshedpur- Students from more than 25 city school are launching a book on cleanliness. Hygience and waste management.
In alignment with the nationwide “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission), TATA STEEL UISL, in collaboration with The Hypen and Potli Productions, launched “Swachhta Samvaad” to engage the young minds of Jamshedpur. This initiative encourages students to express their thoughts and ideas on swachhta through creative writing.
The campaign began with an essay writing competition held in schools, where students shared their visions on Swachh Jamshedpur, best practices, challenges and solutions, and cleanliness within their communities. The overwhelming response to this city-wide essay competition provided a perfect kickstart to this innovative and participatory approach to youth-driven social development.
The schools nominated their two best student writers who participate in a two-day, in-person masterclass on creative writing to be conducted by thematic experts on Aug 5 – 6, 2024 in Jamshedpur. This masterclass guided students through various writing styles, essential elements of storytelling, and the best ways to express their thoughts. Incorporating these learnings, the students will create stories and essays that will be compiled into a well-designed publication titled “Swachhta Samvaad.”
Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Deepali Raina, Founder of Potli Productions, said, “This unique initiative of understanding the vision of our young student writers in the city has not only helped in developing their writing skills but has strengthened our resolve to bring community-driven positive social impact on the ground. We are looking forward to the final compilation, which we will distribute to schools, community centers, and other places.”
Swachhta Samvaad will continue to foster sustained dialogue among students and other community stakeholders at various levels.
